What We Do
We are a community organizing group that brings together people who are interested in saving our island’s precious and limited resources for all the people to enjoy. When there is a threat to public access to our parks and beaches like the addition of parking meters to tax the free access to recreation, FREE ACCESS COALITION begins campaigns to raise public awareness followed by action at the government level where the threat is coming.
FAC is a source for gathering support and publicity of issues that are important for the free use of public lands, parks and beaches. When any of our non-profit groups has an issue, we move forward with campaigns to raise awareness through the newspaper, television and public meeting venues. We contact political figures who can assist bringing resolution to issues. We initiate flyer campaigns. We support public rallies. We prefer to resolve issues quietly unless resistance is inflexible.
FAC uses political and media resources to first raise public awareness of serious threats and then provides a path to resolve the issues. We count on communication to build unity and community support from groups who may actually have diverse local interests and issues. If we all help each other, we are a powerful force for the good of our community.
The more we all work together, the stronger the community coalition will be for all of us.
